Big thanks to Tripp Imaging Technologies for all your help over the last several months.
After a long search in the Greater Portland area for a space to launch Benoit’s Design Co., we have found a home in the Dana Warp Mill in Westbrook, Maine! High ceilings, large windows, a beautiful view of the Presumpscot River, and creative minds alike. What else could you ask for?!
Thanks to my family and my love, Christina Achee (superstar interior designer), we will have this place up and running in no time! I could not have accomplished it without them. Excited for what’s to come.
I have always been very passionate about the arts and design while growing up in Maine. When I finished high school in Maine I knew I wanted to pursue a career in design but had no clue where to go to gain the knowledge I sought. I decided to take a year off between high school and college. During that year, I traveled the South Pacific for six months doing humanitarian work, while at the same time reflecting on what I wanted out of life. When the winter months came around I enrolled in an art and design school in Florence, Italy where my love for the arts blossomed. When my brief semester concluded in Florence, I knew I wanted to find a university back in the States that could provide similar lessons on design, as well as education about the latest technologies. That is how I ended up at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I attended SCAD in the Fall of 2007 and quickly become immersed in the world around me. Learning as much from my peers as I did from my professors. I remained at SCAD straight through graduation in Spring 2011, when I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design.
After graduation, I returned to Maine and worked for L.L.Bean as a designer for two and a half years. In March of 2013 I survived a life-changing medical event. My experience caused me to take a hard look at life. In reflection, I came to the realization that time is precious and you cannot be afraid to go after your dreams. I have always wanted to start a business of my own where I could produce products that speak to who I am as a designer. I also wanted to work with like-minded people to pursue their creative aspirations.
Benoit’s Design Co. was derived from an old family business here in Maine. During my childhood, my grandfather would tell us stories of the old Benoit’s Clothing Store and how it was a staple in the Greater Portland, Maine community. My goal is for Benoit’s Design Co. to have a similar impact in local lives.
We are extremely excited for this new opportunity and look forward to creating lasting relationships with you.
