2015 Winter Collection

Benoit's Design 2015 Winter Collection

What a year (and few months) it’s been since opening our doors at the end of 2014 – an awesome ride, I’ll tell you! A big thank you to all of our fans and supporters who have helped us start to establish our name in the Greater Portland community. Keep it up!

We have been a production powerhouse over the last several months gearing up for our 2016 Spring/Summer Line. The collection is comprised of rich, vibrant colors, striking graphics and nautical charts. We’re psyched to share our expanding line and can’t wait for the release date!

Now, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, seeing how Maine woke up to a dusting of snow this morning. Though spring is near, our Winter Collection is still very much in the spotlight. Our Winter Collection is largely inspired by my childhood winter weekends of wearing vintage wool sweaters and plaids while tearing up the slopes of Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, ME. The collection incorporates neutrals, bright hues, retro-vintage style, current fashion trends and chic décor pieces. Shop a variety of home decor including Wood Wall Art, Ornaments, laser etched Glassware, and Coasters. Our Winter Collection can be purchased on our online store as well as on our Etsy shop, Benoit’s Design Co.

Coolidge Family Farm Shoot

View More: http://emilydelamater.pass.us/0125coolidgefarm

We were so excited to be invited to partake in a mock wedding shoot for A Family Affair of Maine at the Coolidge Family Farm in Upper Village of New Gloucester, Maine. Paula of A Family Affair of Maine was the brains behind the whole operation. Below is her inspiration behind the event design.

From A Family Affair Of Maine… “This charming sweetheart inspiration was designed with whimsical woodland features, accentuating the copious beauty of Maine winter. The backdrop is a pastoral setting in an 1870 built farmhouse that carries a rich history and eclectic mix of modern and vintage furnishings. Incorporating various shades of red symbolizing love, we represent an old fashioned St. Valentines day in true New England fashion.

Our Bride is dressed in a vintage antique lace Victorian wedding gown paired with a fur stole wrap and leather gloves. Her soft curls are adorned with a spray rose, ranunculus and wax flower crown.

The Groom wears red plaid and bowtie, warm grey wool and suit jacket. His boutonniere is composed of privet berry, ranunculus, wax flower and spray rose. Our table scape design involves a recycled barn board table with unique white post legs, paired with two vintage mahogany high backed chairs with bright red velvet seats. Laser cut wood plates adorn each chair signifying seating for the Bride and Groom. White benches are made warm with dark fur blankets for the wedding party. Red velvet cloth runs down the length of the table, and is a beautiful canvas for the immense and stunning floral design consisting of roses, amaryllis, ranunculus, wax flower, privet berry and viburnum. Brass candle sticks hold various shades of candles to add to the romance and color scheme, while dark antler sheds accentuated the woodland vibe. Each of the vintage etched glass plates were further complimented by warm brass chargers with rattan detail. The place settings were personalized with custom laser cut pinecones and handmade rosemary wreaths set atop vintage napkins. White milk glass wine goblets were paired with antique crystal.

The wedding cake was a smooth ivory fondant embellished with a hand crafted red rose cluster with deep green vines and a single intricate antler. The Bride and Groom initial cake topper was machine cut acrylic with a wood grain technique and enveloped with a wood carved frame.

The outdoor ceremony was created with intensions of evoking a feeling of warmth in the cold. A fireplace mantle bearing warm quilts, framed with the warm color of the floral garlands and brass elements helped to create a sense of passion and glow. Bridal portraits on a vintage wood framed sofa in the snow and a bold wool sweater conceptualizes all the ways the color red embodies love, romance, excitement and affection.”

Here is what we came up with to accent the event.

Vintage Sugarloaf Window

We were honored to be a part of this year’s Sugarloaf Charity Summit. Benefits went to the Martha B. Webber Breast Cancer Center and the Maine Cancer Foundation. This was a fun project to work on. The retro graphic is etched onto an 30″x 18″ inch glass window. We hope you like it!
